Why remote embroidery orders work

Embroidery is one of the few crafts where distance genuinely does not affect quality. The fabric travels, the brief is agreed in writing, a sample is approved, and the finished work travels back. What matters is not how close you are — it is how clearly the brief is set and how disciplined the approval stages are.

That is why a large share of our production comes from designers and boutiques outside Mumbai. They want a specific standard of hand work, and they are willing to courier fabric to get it.

Cities we regularly work with

Embroidery reaches us from across the country, and each market tends to have its own character:

• Hyderabad — heavy demand for bridal work, zardozi and stone embellishment, plus boutique labels wanting consistent repeat production.
• Delhi NCR (Delhi, Gurugram, Noida) — designer sampling, export-house style detailing and occasionwear.
• Bengaluru — modern boutique labels, minimal thread work, monograms and clean contemporary placement.
• Chennai and Coimbatore — silk saree work, zari borders and traditional motifs.
• Jaipur and Udaipur — heritage-influenced design, mirror and gota-adjacent aesthetics.
• Surat and Ahmedabad — fabric-led orders, often larger quantities with tight cost control.
• Pune, Nagpur and Nashik — close enough for fast courier turnaround, mostly occasionwear and boutique runs.
• Kolkata — fine thread work and traditional detailing.
• Lucknow, Indore, Bhopal and Chandigarh — suits, kurtis and dupatta work, often in small repeat batches.

Wherever you are, the process below is the same.

The remote order, step by step

1. Brief. Send a reference image, the garment, fabric type, quantity, budget range and deadline. The more precise this is, the closer the first sample lands.
2. Quotation. We confirm technique, materials, per-piece cost and an estimated timeline before anything is dispatched.
3. Fabric dispatch. You courier fabric, cut panels or stitched garments. We confirm receipt with photographs of what arrived and its condition.
4. Sampling. For anything beyond a couple of pieces we stitch a sample or swatch and send clear photographs — and video where the texture matters.
5. Approval. You confirm thread colour, density, placement and embellishment in writing. Nothing goes into production before this.
6. Production. Bulk work begins, with progress updates at agreed points.
7. Dispatch. Finished pieces are packed so the embroidery is not crushed, and couriered with tracking.

Shipping fabric safely

• Roll, do not fold heavy or structured fabric — fold creases can show through finished embroidery.
• Label every panel if you are sending cut pieces: front, back, sleeve, dupatta.
• Send a little extra fabric where possible. A spare strip lets us test tension and thread before touching your actual garment.
• Use a tracked courier and share the tracking number.
• Photograph what you send. It makes any transit dispute straightforward.

Bulk and boutique production

For labels placing repeat orders, a few things make production predictable:

• An approved master sample kept as the reference for every subsequent batch.
• Locked thread and material specifications, so a re-order in six months matches the original.
• Batch scheduling agreed in advance, particularly before the festive and wedding season.
• Confidentiality by default — your designs are not published or reused. This is also why our gallery shows technique rather than client collections.

There is no minimum order. A single piece is welcome, and so is a run of several hundred.

Three mistakes to avoid

1. Skipping the sample to save time. It is the only stage that reliably prevents a costly reprint of an entire batch. It always pays for itself.
2. Approving on a phone screen alone. Colours shift between screens. Ask for a physical swatch when the shade is critical.
3. Leaving the deadline vague. “Soon” cannot be scheduled. A date lets us tell you honestly what is possible.
