Looking for an embroidery karigar in Mumbai?
Most people searching for a karigar want the same thing: a skilled pair of hands they can trust with a garment that matters. That is exactly what a working studio is for.
MUMBAI • SINCE 1992

What you are actually looking for
A karigar is a craftsman — the person who does the work rather than the shop that takes the order. People search for one directly because they have been let down by middlemen: a garment handed to an agent, sent somewhere unknown, returned late and not quite right.
MKS Embroidery is a working studio in Dahisar East, running since 1992. The people who quote your work are the people who do it. Nothing is passed to a third party, which means that when a deadline moves or a design needs changing mid-way, there is no chain of subcontractors to negotiate with.
The hands available here
Three decades means depth across techniques rather than one speciality.
- Aari work — hook chain stitch, fast and endlessly detailed
- Zardozi — raised metal thread in dabka, nakshi, kora and salma
- Zari work — flat and couched gold thread, borders and motifs
- Thread and silk shading — satin, long-and-short and fine filling
- Stone, crystal, bead, sequin and cutdana — hand-set, not glued
- Hand-guided machine work — for volume and repeat runs
- Patch, motif, logo and monogram work
Working with us, wherever you are
Customers in Dahisar, Borivali, Kandivali and Mira Road usually walk in with the garment, because looking at the fabric together settles most questions in ten minutes. Everyone else sends garments by courier and approves from photographs and physical swatches.
- Walk in to the Dahisar East studio with your garment
- Courier it from anywhere in Mumbai, India, or abroad
- Send a photo on WhatsApp first for a quotation
- Approve a sample before any bulk run begins
- Collect in person or have it couriered back to you
Why people stay with one studio
Embroidery is a trust business. You are handing over a garment that may be irreplaceable — a wedding piece, an heirloom saree, a sample from a collection that has not been released. Designers and boutiques send us unreleased work, and nothing a client commissions is ever displayed or shown to another customer.
That is also why this website shows technique and materials instead of finished client commissions.
Embroidery karigar questions.
Are you hiring karigars?
This page is for customers looking to have embroidery done, not a recruitment page. We are not advertising vacancies here, and we would ask that job enquiries are not sent through the enquiry form, which is monitored for customer orders.
Can I meet the karigar who will do my work?
Yes. Walk in to the Dahisar East studio and you can see the frames, the work in progress and discuss your piece with the people who will actually stitch it.
Do you take single garments or only bulk?
Both, with no minimum. A single blouse is normal work here and is not treated as a small job.
How far in advance should I book?
For bridal and wedding season work, as early as you can — good hands get committed weeks ahead. For a single blouse or a repair, usually a few days to a week.
Can you repair or restore old embroidery?
Yes. Heirloom saree borders, damaged zardozi and worn zari are regular work. Send a photo of the damage and we will tell you honestly whether it can be matched.
Still have a question? Message us on WhatsApp or send an enquiry.

Same working day, from the people who will do the work.
